The Regional Environmental Centre Moldova is looking for the Executive Director

The Regional Environmental Centre Moldova is an independent, non-for-profit organisation established with international finance, with the objective to encourage and support the development of a strong environmental NGO sector in Moldova, as well as enhancing cooperation between NGOs and governmental, international and private sector environmental stakeholders. This has been achieved by supplying high quality information on environmental matters, offering training in project management and preparation, making available small grants to NGOs, promoting public participation in the decision making processes on environmental issues, providing a forum for discussion of environmental issues, policy analysis relating to environmental issues, sustainable development and interaction between governments, NGOs and other stakeholders, providing a framework for regional co-operation at a governmental and non-governmental levels.

The Regional Environmental Centre Moldova is looking for the Executive Director. This appointment will represent a major career opportunity for ambitious people at all levels with a serious interest in environmental improvement.

Executive Director will manage the day to day affairs of the Centre in accordance with the policies and guidelines established by the REC’s Board of Directors, will steer the organisation towards fulfilling its basic objectives and will be overlooking the fundraising activities.

Requirements include:

  • University degree in environmental and/or related areas;
  • Knowledge of the environmental NGO sector at national and international levels;
  • Understanding of the national’s and region’s environmental policies;
  •  Minimum 3 years practical work experience in state environmental institutions or/and environmental NGOs or/and environmental international organisations;
  • Experience in preparing environmental policy documents;
  • Experience in preparing  project proposals;  knowledge of  EU procedures in this regard will be an asset;
  • Strong analytical, drafting and communication skills;
  • Ability to achieve results and meet strict deadlines in an effective manner, maintaining a high quality standard throughout;
  • Strong communication skills, written and oral, in English and Romanian;
  • Strong administrative skills;
  • Experience in project management and fundraising activities;
  • Excellent computer literacy;
  • Self-dependence and flexibility at work, with ability for team working, at least 2 years of team leadership;
  • Good personnel management skills.
